On Tuesday, November 22, 2022 three of our former students were awarded Academic Excellence Scholarships at a special ceremony held in the University. Our Deputy Principal, Carmel McCormack represented the school at this prestigious event as a guest of the university.

Cathal Geoghegan from the MCS Class of 2021 and Liam Maxwell and Sean Conlon from the class of 2022 were recipients of these awards.  Entrance scholars are awarded for their exceptional Leaving Certificate results. At the ceremony each Excellence Scholar was presented with a specially designed scroll by the Registrar and Deputy President of the University. This year a total of 101 new entrants qualified for the 40 available Scholarships across the four Colleges of the University. Each student received €600 in a special ceremony to congratulate all recipients. As a consequence of Covid restrictions last year’s ceremony was postponed and the number of scholarships awarded is a reflection of the number of students who entered the university with excellent results in 2022.

The boys are all students of Engineering, where they initially choose the common entry pathway with the opportunity to specialise later in their studies. Congratulations, all of your teachers and staff at Moate Community School wish you well in your studies and future career path.
