Over the course of four weeks, Ms. Neilan’s group of TY Social Studies students organised the mental health AWARE Life Skills Programme (LSP) for a group of their peers. Throughout the four weeks, a series of modules and skills were imparted by course facilitator Ms. Mary Burke. Some of the modules included: Understanding your feelings, looking at things differently, the importance of a good sleep routine, how to fix almost everything and ten things you can do to feel happier. The final module of this initiative fittingly coincided with World Mental Health Week.

Ms. Burke informed students that the LSP has the potential to help make some really great changes in one’s life. It’s just 90 minutes, once a week, for four weeks. The TY group were encouraged to continue to practice these skills with the aid of a resource manual which each student will get to keep. Each student received a certificate of accomplishment.

Thanks as always to the AWARE organisation and Mary Burke who continues to support the wellbeing efforts of MCS.
