Coding Creative Cluster with Technological University of the Shannon

Six of our Transition Year students attend Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) Athlone campus every Friday where they are joined by students from four other local schools as part of a creative cluster initiative.

“Creative Cluster” is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education, it consists of between three and five schools collaborating on the design, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of an innovative arts and creative learning project which supports them in addressing a common issue or challenge, identified by that cluster.

The challenge for our students namely: Kian Brady, Cormac Murphy, Adam Cullinane, Arina Tsarkova, Dylan Magee and Dylan Cooney was to join with other local schools in learning coding skills to solve everyday issues.

As part of the creative cluster, they are using a Micro:bit and an Arduino, tiny computers that you can use to learn programming.
