This year four TY students from Moate CS Jack Ryan, Mark Loddick, Jack Nally and Tyler Mason took part in the Certified Irish Angus Schools Competition.

They were invited to attend the final in Croke Park on the 1st of March where they designed a poster detailing their chosen theme; “On farm factors affecting the growth and quality of Irish Angus Beef”. In preparation for the final the students held a raffle in school one lunch time for five angus straws and all proceeds went to Hooves4Hospice Tullamore. As a group they visited Grennan’s in Moate one Saturday and the mart in Tullamore one Monday night to raise money, sell tickets and to spread awareness on their chosen topic. On successful completion of the two events 626 euro was raised.

Many thanks to Grennan’s farm store and GVM Tullamore for allowing the students sell tickets on their premises. And to Dovea Genetics for donating five Angus straws.
