MCS former student fund raising

Ruairi Aspell is a former student of Moate CS. While on holidays in Budapest recently, he suffered a brain haemorrhage. Luckily he was in the company of his friend who is a member of the Order of Malta. He recognised the gravity of the situation and took swift action. The neurosurgical hospital in Hungary was of an excellent standard where Ruairi had an operation to stop the bleeding and spent almost three weeks recovering from surgery. His rehabilitation continues and he is focused on making a 100% recovery whilst he put his studies on hold for this year.

As a result of his experience, he would like to raise money for charity which he plans to divide between the hospital in Hungary where he was treated, the local Order of Malta (Athlone area) and the research into the treatment and prevention of brain aneurysms.

It was with great pleasure that Mr T Lowry welcomed Ruairi back to the school, to present him with a donation raised by the school for these very worthy charities. Everyone in the school wishes Ruairi all the best in his recovery and in his fundraising campaign.
