The girls lined out against Loreto Mullingar in a tough battle as the two sides were very evenly matched. For the first 10 minutes of play the two sides had a great battle in the midfield as the ball didn’t stay in one half of the pitch for too long. The Moate girls defence was put to the test in the 15th minute when a well struck free from Loretto forced a clearance from Lara Keena.
After holding possession well the Loreto girls hit the back of the net in the 22nd minute. Aine bracken had a job on her hands as she was put on Loreto’s goal threat and took to the job very well as she prevented a second Loretta goal with great defending. A big second half was needed from the Moate girls as the half ended 1-0.
In the second half the Moate girls pushed on and were quick to the mark with a smashing goal from Neasa Trainor in the 37th minute to make it 1-1. Once again no one side could take control of the game. Chances from Karrissa Burns and Alex Kelly almost got the lead for the Moate girls in the 42nd and 54th minute. The last few minutes were filled with great play from two very evenly matched team and the referee blew his whistle to end the match in a 1-1 draw.
