The Moate CS U19 basketball team travelled to Portlaoise last week to take on Athy in the Midlands Region Plate Final.

It was a tight game that went over and back between the sides. Eventually the Moate men emerged as champions on a scoreline of 28-25.

A huge performance from 6^th year Kien Egan who dominated the boards, grabbing every rebound going, as well as adding in a number of key blocks to keep the Moate side ahead.

Despite struggling to convert on the offensive end, the side excelled defensively to give them the edge in the game and eventually lift the trophy.
