Moate Community School students were not only busy and successful on the playing fields recently but also in the swimming pool!

Sunday 5th February saw the Connacht Senior Schools Swimming Championships taking place in Longford. Moate CS was very well represented this year with a team of 8 swimmers competing on the day. It was a particularly good day for our school swimmers because for the first time Moate CS was able to enter a girl’s Intermediate relay team! They raced both the 200m Freestyle and the 200m Medley relay in a highly competitive field with teams entered from schools across the province. They secured second place and third place in the Medley and Freestyle relay respectively in very exciting races. They will now travel to Dublin on March 26th to race against the top schools from all provinces at the National Relay Schools Championships.  We wish Leah, Eilidh, Erin and Laura the very best of luck.

Congratulations also to Freddie Moro, Leah Connell, Erin Moore and Laura Fox on their individual medals and to Aindriu Lynam, Aine Bracken, Eilidh Moore and Lauren Murray on their excellent performances on the day and to their commitment to their training.
