Following their Teagasc Special Award win in the BT Young Scientist this January, MCS transition year students Kate Whyte and Aine Shortall travelled to Teagasc Kildalton College on Tuesday 31st of January along with Ms. O’Sullivan. Here they were introduced to equine specialists in the college and shown the impressive facilities available, such as horse simulators. The visit also gave them a chance to discuss their project findings with both students and researchers which allowed them to identify key considerations for the development of their product; Paratreatology, a horse treat to reduce equine parasites such as Lungworm. The visit will be of great benefit to the students as they further their studies of Agricultural Science in fifth year next year.
