We attended the Ericsson Innovation and Technology Day in Athlone on Thursday the 5th of October. Our group consisted of Lilly Daly, Leah Winters and Millie O’ Donavan. We presented our project from the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition to many Ericsson employees.

Our project, which we won second place in the Junior Biology Category, is titled ‘Bio Enzymes: A Cooler Way to Wash’. Our aim was to produce a pre-wash clothing soak from fruit waste. The soak digested food-based stains limiting the need for high temperature cycles and reducing energy bills. We fermented the fruit peels and transformed them into enzyme beads.

Our experience at the Ericsson Technology Day will stay with us forever. We got the opportunity to meet and talk to the employees at the Ericsson Software Campus. Visitors to our stand were very interested in hearing about our project. We were fascinated by the many projects that Ericsson is developing. Our participation in this event was truly amazing. Thank you to Ms Margaret Mandal (MCS) and Sinead O’Reilly who facilitated with this event.
