Alex Dowling from AMD visited our TY and LCA classes on Thursday 26th January. Alex spoke about her career path in technology and her job in AMD. We found it very interesting the possibilities of travel within the tech industry.
Alex discussed industries that use technology and challenged us to think of jobs that do not, the reality is that most jobs now involve some form of technology as the world is evolving and becoming ever more digital. Alex shared some interesting statistics with us, including the fact that over 80% of jobs that will exist in 2030 haven’t been invented yet!
We saw some amazing advances in technology in the medical sector, including robots performing surgery and using 3D printers to make inexpensive prosthetics for children. It highlighted to all of us that emerging technologies will continue to change the way we live, and the way in which we experience the world around us. A very enjoyable and informative talk.
