MCS has always been a strong participant in BTYS and this year all that hard work and commitment on the part of students and teachers was rewarded.<\/p>\n<p>After working tirelessly since August and participating in intense online interviews over the Christmas holidays the announcements yesterday made it all worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The school won 8 awards and one Highly Commended.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>To begin with BT recognised the school as <strong>Best School in the ROI<\/strong> and awarded one of our teachers, Ms. Mairead Cusack the title of\u00a0 <strong>Perrigo Educator of Excellence in Biological Sciences. <\/strong>As a school we couldn\u2019t be prouder of both awards and want to thank all the science teachers for their tireless and inspiring work in developing an atmosphere of investigation and research.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>The students awards are as follows ( more details of their projects will follow):<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1st Place in\u00a0Junior Biological and Ecological Category:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Kian Brady and Reuben Guinan-Effect of Superfoods on Diabetes<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st Place in Intermediate\u00a0Biological and Ecological Category:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aine Maxwell, Laura Conlon and Joyce Conway-Stop Spoiling Milk, Start Seeing Changes<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st Place in Intermediate Technology:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Daragh Lowry &amp; Conall Mandal-An App to Co-ordinate your Awareness and Knowledge of your Locality<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highly Commended:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ava Hallissy, Leah Hallissy and Annie Duffy-The Future is Bright: Turning Organic Waste into Biofuel<\/p>\n<p><strong>2nd Place in Junior Biological and Ecological Category:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lauren Finan, Aine Broderick and Shana Brady-An Investigation on the Impact of Diet on the Prevalence of Laminitis among Connemara Ponies<\/p>\n<p><strong>Perrigo Best Project in Ecological&amp; Ecological Sciences<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Abby Mullins, Chloe Murphy and Megan Carroll-Wool-Saviour of Our Sea<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overall Best Group Project:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abby Mullins, Chloe Murphy and Megan Carroll-Wool-Saviour of Our Sea<\/p>\n<p>Well done to all involved in the 11 projects that represented the school at BTYS<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Huge BT success for Moate Community School What better way to start 2021 than with such fantastic results from BTYS.
