Four TY students from Moate Community School are taking part in the Certified Irish Angus Beef Schools Competition. Christopher Kerrigan, Lorna Eagney, Sarah Murray, and Conor O’ Brien have worked on promoting the Irish Angus breed to both consumers and farmers since last September.

There are many benefits of Irish Angus such as easy calving, short gestation period, easy fleshing, naturally polled, natural marbling, lack of artificial flavouring and tenderness. The group are highlighting these benefits in a number of ways including designing promotional videos and visiting local factories, marts and retailers.

On Monday 14th of January the group took part in an interview with Irish Angus Producer Group in the Park Hotel, Mullingar where they discussed their knowledge of their Irish Angus breed and their promotional strategies. The group will strive to promote the breed by implementing a range of initiatives in preparation for the final in March.
