{"id":2912,"date":"2019-01-30T17:25:03","date_gmt":"2019-01-30T17:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/moatecs.com\/?p=2912"},"modified":"2019-01-30T17:25:03","modified_gmt":"2019-01-30T17:25:03","slug":"spectroscopy-in-a-suitcase-visit-to-mcs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/moatecs.com\/spectroscopy-in-a-suitcase-visit-to-mcs\/","title":{"rendered":"Spectroscopy in a Suitcase Visit to MCS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Spectroscopy in a Suitcase Visit to MCS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the 21<sup>st<\/sup> of January, the 5<sup>th<\/sup> and 6<sup>th<\/sup> year Chemistry students from MCS were given the opportunity to partake in the <em>Spectroscopy in a Suitcase<\/em> workshop provided by the Royal Society of Chemistry.<\/p>\n<p>During the workshop, the students worked together to use their knowledge of analytical chemistry to solve a murder. They used the UV Spectrometer to measure the levels of a compound in the victim\u2019s cup. They then studied data obtained from the IR Spectrometer to identify the murderer.<\/p>\n<p>Each Chemistry student gained valuable experience in working with each Spectrometer. The workshop was organised in a fun and interactive way that made abstract theories easy to understand.
