With <em>Babet <\/em>pounding Irish shores they bravely faced the inclement weather with initial dread but that soon passed. The group completed a 25 km hike through bog and on trails in the Slieve Bloom Mountains under the guidance of the very capable and kind hike leaders at Birr Outdoor Education Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Despite conditions students enjoyed their time together; the South Africa v England rugby World Cup semi-final and a movie helped them wind down after a challenging first day. Hot showers and warm food were also much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to this event students completed three other components of the award- volunteering in the community, developing a personal skill and participating in team or individual activities to improve their physical and mental wellbeing. They will receive their awards in the coming weeks.
