James Costelloe has been recently awarded with a choral scholarship in UCD. James graduated from Moate CS in June 2022. He was an integral member of both school choirs during his 6 years. He joins Oisin Johnston (LC 2020) and Johnny Horan (LC 2021) who are both recipients of the scholarship. There are 10 male members in the UCD Choral Scholars and three of them are graduates of Moate CS!<\/p>\n
Choral Scholars is an internationally-acclaimed chamber choir of gifted student-singers, led by Artistic Director, Desmond Earley, based at University College Dublin School of Music. Scholars come from various academic disciplines and commit to an intensive programme of choral training.<\/p>\n
To mark the unique connection that University College Dublin has with James Joyce, Choral Scholars are currently preparing to record the entire collection of the poets \u201cChamber Music 1907\u201d, with each poem being set by a different composer from around the world.<\/p>\n
The ensemble will also be performing in Newman University Church, St. Stephen\u2019s Green, on December 20th, 21st and 22nd. \u201cA Choral Celebration of Christmas\u201d will feature some Christmas classics aswell as some works from James Joyce.
