We preform regularly at many occasions such as School Masses, concerts and scchool functions. In 2012 we held a Christmas concert and in the spring of 2013 we held our first Summer Proms.<\/p>\n Both the Junior and Senior Chamber Choir rehearse during Lunchtime. The Chamber choir is for those who are really passionate about music and are willing to invest time and effort into perfecting a challenging repertoire as part of a group.<\/p>\n We are very fortunate to have a very vibrant instrumental tuition programme in our school. The Programme facilitates the development of performance skills at an appropriate level. Our programme is a total success with many students hiring the instruments from the school and availing of tuition offered. Out Instrumental teachers offer tuition on :<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Science” tab_id=”1547247486730-e33300f3-f8c8″][vc_column_text]Science and the pursuit of Scientific excellence has become part of daily life in Moate Community School. At the BTYS awards 2020 the school was awarded “Best School in the Republic of Ireland”, a prestigious teacher award and 7 student awards including the overall award for Best group. This was the culmination in years of work and perseverance in promoting the importance of science and scientific endeavors.<\/p>\n We have four full sized Science labs plus a dedicated general science classroom. Science is studying by all students as core at Junior cycle and students can chose from the following subjects at Leaving Cert Level:<\/p>\n
\nAs well as physical fitness, the principle value sought through team sports is a sense of shared enjoyment through membership of a team. Players are encouraged to take responsibility for the spirit and performance of the team, and are actively involved in game analysis with their coaches. Moate Community school has become synonymous with sporting prowess, team spirit, courage, commitment, loyalty, fair play and honesty together with uncomplaining acknowledgement of defeat and gracious acceptance of victory.

\nThere is a long tradition of singing and choir in our school,dating bavck tot he time of the Mercy sisters. It is with great pride that we coninue with that tradition in the M.C.S. Music Department. In 2010 we embraced a new inititiative of having choir rehearsals after school on Monday evenings from 4-5pm. The Response was phenomenal. Our Choir consists of approx. 50 members with students from First-Sixth year,both male and female. We were the proud winners of the All Island Choir competition 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
