Moate 0-16 Edenderry 1-7

It was an entertaining match today October 13th in Moate today Moate CS Senior Football team took home a well-deserved win after overcoming Edenderry. Moate got off to a great start with the midfield duo winning the throw-up. Edenderry got the ball rolling with the opening score from a free. The Moate lads were quick to respond with a point converted by Tiarnan O’Donovan. Full back line; Cathal Guinan, Adam Keane and Tom Gorman were strong in defence, sweeping up everything that came their way and tightly marked Edenderry’s attackers. Moate looked very comfortable on the ball and had the most possession throughout the game. Points from David O’Reilly, Conor Fox, Daragh Lowry, Ronan Murray, Donal Shirley and Eoin Bracken were added to the scoreboard. The Moate side were the stronger team but in patches, struggled to move the ball up the pitch. At half time, Moate CS led 0-10 to 1-3. After words of encouragement from coaches, the Moate side came out with all guns blazing in the second half. Donal Shirley opened the second half with a long-range point. Donal Shirley, Adam Daly and Aodhan Curran and Conaire Martin made great solo runs up the pitch getting the ball up to the scoring forwards. Great kick outs from goalkeeper James Mitchell set the outfielders up for scoring chances. Points came from Adam Keane, Ronan Murray and Eoin Bracken. A goal chance for Edenderry was brilliantly intercepted by Padraig McLoughlin. This tackle left Padraig injured and was replaced by Cian Rainey. The game was going dead in the dying few minutes as no team showed any signs of scoring. This win leads the lads to a League Semi-final.
