Moate CS had a great start to Athletics this year with 33 students competing in the Westmeath Cross Country School Championships in Belvedere, Mullingar. Moate CS had a hugely successful day taking home 13 medals overall.

In the first-year race Libby Mc Hugh placed within the top 10 winning a medal and Billy Stenson placed 2^nd taking home a well-earned silver. Our second-year girls and boys did extremely well, in the girls race. Karissa Burns, Aine Bracken and Lena Zydek who placed 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd respectively along with Neasa Trainor, Maire Croinin and Aoife Ross all placing in the top 10 bringing home 6 medals in their category. The 2^nd year boys Anthony King Carroll, Eoin Conlon, John McDermott and Jack Whyte placed in the top 10 bringing home a further 4 medals.  Cormac Murphy in transition year ran a strong race in a field of Transition year, 5^th and 6th Year student and came home 2^nd in his category.
