Moate vs. Wexford

The girls started with a good fight in the backline and Cliodhna Aspell turned the ball over passing it up the field. Kate Whyte gets the first point of the game putting Moate 0-1 to 0-0 ahead of Wexford. The Moate forwards break down the Wexford kickout and concede a second point from Eva Fox. Eunice David, Orla ross and Cliodhna Aspell put intense pressure on the Wexford full forward line. Rebecca Monoghan, Eva Donlon and Hannah Doolan all work superbly trying to clear the ball from the Moate half back line. Midfielder Kate Whyte scores Moate’s fourth score leading Moate ahead 0-4 to 0-0. Chanelle O’Neill scores Moate’s 5th point. Wexford collects their first score putting the score 0-5 to 0-1. Claire O’Donohoe swarms the midfield and kicks a ball into Kate Whyte getting Moate another point. The first quarter concludes with 0-7 to 0-1 to Moate. Wexford start the 2nd quarter by winning Moate’s free kick, but Kacey Mulvihill puts in a good tackle and turns the ball over for Moate giving it in to Eva fox who kicks a great point. Wexford start a good 2nd quarter as they take frequent possession from Moate but still cannot score with the pressure applied by Eunice David, Eva Donlon and Rebecca Monoghan. Wexford’s demanding work pays off getting them their second point of the game leaving the score 0-8 to 0-2. Rebecca Monaghan works with Kacey Mulvihill and Katie Doolan moving the ball up the field. the second quarter ends with an amazing goal from Eva Fox that came the whole way from Eunice David in corner back. Halftime score is 1-8 to 0-2. Moate has a strong start the second half with a point from Katie Doolan and a point from Kate Whyte. A free from Moate in the half forward line taken by Kacey Mulvihill leads to a goal scored by Kate Whyte. Claire O’Donohoe is putting immense pressure on the Wexford midfields and blocking down a vast majority or their shots. The end of the third quarter the score is 2-11 to 0-5 to Moate. Moate brings subs in the forward and backline. Wexford get a penalty, but they kick it wide. Yet again Claire O’Donohoe block another Wexford shot and wins a free. Amy Lehane, Chanelle O’Neill work with Kate Whyte to get another point boosting the score to 2-12 to 0-7 in Moate’s favour. A free won by Kellie McLoughlin results in another point taken by Kate Whyte. Claire O’Donohoe wins the Wexford kick out and gives an amazing ball into Grace O’Flaherty who then rattles the Wexford goal net. Wexford now receive another plenty which just missed jade Harney’s hands. with a last point from Kate Whyte given in by Amy Lehane. The game ends with a final score of 3-14 to 1-7 to Moate.
