On Thursday 27th September, ten students from TY in Moate Community School are travelling to Lourdes. They will be accompanied by their teachers Mr. Francis Lee and Mrs. Yvonne Prendergast. The students’ names are Michelle Flynn, Ella Delaney, Johnny Horan, Ruairi Casey, Conor O’Brien, Alanna Shortall, Lauren Farrell, Sarah Murray, Lorna Eagney and Therese McCormack. These students are traveling with the Carmelite pilgrims and will volunteer as helpers to tend to the sick and elderly. Last week they attended a manual training evening in Dublin. The pilgrimage will take place over five days. Our school would like to congratulate these wonderful students who volunteered and completed an admirable amount of fundraising work to finance this trip. The group would like to thank the Moate Active Age Group who have created and donated beautiful blankets for the wheelchair users. They would also like to thank the Carmelite Church for providing them with this opportunity and Ms. Aine Feeley for all her organising of the trip. Our school would like to wish our students and teachers well on what will be an unforgettable experience.
